

Rob Smith is the senior business consulting advisor for the Business Consulting division of Blue Trust.
With over 25 years of experience in business consulting, Rob provides a broad range of corporate advisory services to Blue Trust financial advisors and business-owner clients. He focuses on financial strategy and corporate growth, with an emphasis on working with companies on internal transition (succession) plans or serving as advisor for external transactions (M&A). Rob enjoys thinking creatively, solving complex issues, and serving clients to achieve intended results.
Before joining Blue Trust, Rob was the chief operating officer of RSIP Management, where he developed a finance and management platform for intellectual property owners, inventors, and capital providers. He previously worked as a managing director for the international consulting firm Robert Half/Protiviti, where he led restructuring, financial investigations, valuation, interim management, and transactional services teams serving lower middle market to Fortune 500 companies.
Rob earned his BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his JD and MBA from the University of Richmond. He enjoys hiking and camping with his family and spending time renovating and restoring historic homes. Active in his community, he is a member of a local church and co-founded the Richmond chapter of the New Canaan Society.
Rob and his wife, Sarah, have two sons and live in Richmond, Virginia.
