Eric Ratliff is the director of estate and philanthropic planning at Blue Trust.

With over 18 years of experience in law, accounting, and as the CEO of a trust company, Eric oversees the estate and philanthropic planning department. He and his team specialize in developing advanced financial strategies to help high-net-worth clients include estate, trust, tax, and philanthropic giving in their financial and estate plans.

Before joining the company, Eric held prominent positions at various organizations. He founded Magnolia Trust Company where he served as the president and CEO, overseeing sales, administration, and governance. Prior to that, he worked as a partner at Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, offering consultation services in legal and tax strategies. Eric also founded Covenant Trust where he held the roles of partner and vice president for over 8 years, and he led the Ratliff Law Firm for 18 years.

Eric graduated with honors from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, earning a BS degree in accounting and finance. He then pursued his JD at the Appalachian School of Law, graduating with high honors. In addition, Eric obtained a master’s degree in international taxation from St. Thomas University School of Law. He further expanded his legal expertise by attending Oxford University, where he obtained his British solicitorship from the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Active in the community, Eric is involved with his local church.

Eric and his wife, Stephanie, live in Wise, Virginia, and have a daughter and son.
