The ABCDE’s of Team Behavior: Developing Strong Relationships
We believe there are five actions that, in alignment with the fruit of the Spirit, can support relational clarity. This clarity exists when employees exhibit the ABCDE’s of team behavior.
D: Developing Strong Relationships
Strong relationships are built on mutual love and care. The Bible is clear about the benefits of strong relationships, from Galatians 5:14 (“… ‘Demonstrate love to your neighbor, even as you care for
and love yourself’” [NIV]) to Proverbs 27:17 (“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” [NIV]).
The development of strong relationships within any team or culture is dependent upon mutual understanding and acceptance. The deep relationships that are created when employees love the people they work with foster trust, accountability, and a host of other positive relational outcomes that benefit both the individual and the organization. To create such a culture, organizations must provide clear expectations, support, and accountability for how employees are to relate to one another. Ultimately, the development of strong relationships comes down to individuals believing that demonstrating love and care will improve their performance and allow them to flourish.
